When translating (well rather re-writing in English) the poem unsymmetric, another few lines popped up in my head:
mixed feelings
torn between
yes and no
stuck between
stop and go
which way?
I don't know

My laptop-free time over Easter was not free of writing. On Easter Sunday, I wrote this poem:
unsymmetric
or
energy crisis
roots
ripped off
no roots
no hold
no ressources
no energy
branches
reaching
aimless
in the sky
leaves
falling
useless
in the abyss
searching
for hold
searching
new roots
searching
mother time
father space
span
the endless universe
infinity
eternity
humans
just a little verse
When translating "wohin?" to English, it got more like rewriting the poem in English.
Here's the result:
highwhere
or
exits exist
four lane highway
further
faster
full blast ahead
living in the fast lane
driving at full speed
exits fly by
exits
without name
crossings
without directions
four lane highway
to nowhere
The start of the year 2022 was an emotional rollercoaster for me - I want to share some of it in a series of posts with the title "woher & wohin", i.e. where from and where to.
The series of texts will be a mixture of on the one hand texts that I wrote in February and March and on the other hand poems written by my Mum. These poems are in dialect and were published in the book "Löcher im Nest" in 1987. Although the poems are more than 35 years old they are still topical today.
bittersweet memories
for L.W.
your words
of affection
my words
of destruction
a kiss
that never happened
a future
that only existed
in dreams
still
you are always there
deep down
in my memories
in my heart
sometimes
thoughts of us
are bubbling up
Here we go - the first poem. I wrote it December 9 last year. Today, I found finally time to combine it with a nice photo. Big thanks to Dani that she let me use for this her photos from La Palma.
Already when writing it the poem was bilingual. There is a German and an English version - they are no translations, instead I wrote the poem in two languages independently (and also slightly differently).
Feel free to look also at the German version by switching the language of the website.
